10,000 units aggregated in Virtual Power Plant Next Pool
Next Kraftwerke has reached another milestone: Since November 2020, 10,000 decentralized plants have been aggregated in the virtual power plant Next Pool. Operator Bernd Beitz brought the 10,000th plant into the company.
The 525 kWp photovoltaic plant in the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Haßloch generates both electricity and adrenaline. This is because it supplies roller coasters and water attractions of the Holiday Park with electricity. Unused quantities are traded by Next Kraftwerke on the spot market of the electricity exchange. Company spokesman Jan Aengenvoort visited the facility to celebrate the milestone. He said: "In 2009, nobody would have thought it possible that the Virtual Power Plant could one day be so powerful. Ten years later, we are a power plant network of 10,000 plants and thus one of the largest virtual power plants in Europe. A milestone for us and for the energy transition."
