Working at Next Kraftwerke

Next Kraftwerke is a steadily growing technology company offering innovative services in the field of renewable energy. As the operator of one of the largest Virtual Power Plants (VPP) in Europe, our goal is the market and system integration of renewable energies.

Since we were founded in 2009, Next Kraftwerke has grown into an international energy service provider with more than 200 employees. In addition to our headquarters in Cologne, we have subsidiaries and joint ventures in Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Poland, Switzerland and Japan. In the future, we will continue to grow around the globe.

Corporate Culture

Our two managing directors Hendrik (Sämisch) and Jochen (Schwill), who previously conducted research together at the Institute of Energy Economics (EWI) at the University of Cologne, founded Next Kraftwerke GmbH in 2009. Next Kraftwerke is the result of this research work. We have retained this research-oriented and curious attitude and it is still part of the everyday working life at Next Kraftwerke. We consciously rely on flat hierarchies and an open-door policy is more than just contemporary lip service. For us, discussion on an equal footing and the opportunity to get involved across departments are par for the course. It’s exactly this culture that allows us to develop and implement significant impulses and ideas in product development and in the day-to-day running of the company. We believe that allowing and even encouraging dedication and personal initiative leads to outstanding results.

Who we are

We organize projects in an agile manner in innovative teams and therefore ensure an inspiring working atmosphere. We use the Atlassian stack (Jira and Confluence) for the organization of our work.

Working collaboratively to achieve our goals is important to us. The Power of Many is not only our slogan, but also a lived reality within the company.

Personal initiative and ambition to think outside the box are welcome.

We value open communication and flat hierarchies.

Kirsten Lena Kitzmann is Head of HR at Next Kraftwerke.
