Operator Bernd Beitz brought the 10,000th plant into the company. The 525 kWp photovoltaic plant in the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Haßloch generates both electricity and adrenaline. This is because it supplies roller coasters and water attractions of the Holiday Park with electricity. Unused quantities are traded by Next Kraftwerke on the spot market of the electricity exchange. Company spokesman Jan Aengenvoort visited the facility to celebrate the milestone. He said: "In 2009, nobody would have thought it possible that the Virtual Power Plant could one day be so powerful. Ten years later, we are a power plant network of 10,000 plants and thus one of the largest virtual power plants in Europe. A milestone for us and for the energy transition."

Next Kraftwerke Belgium BVBA is Belgium’s first Digital Utility operating a Virtual Power Plant – the Next Pool – both on the electricity and reserve power markets with a focus on flexibility. The Belgian installations are pooled together with flexible generation and demand and demand response in other European countries (e.g. Germany, The Netherlands, France, Austria, Poland, Italy and Switzerland) adding up to a total of more than 10 000 decentral consumers and producers with a total power of more than 10 000 MW.
